Artful Memories
With national artists Marah Johnson, Sandra Magsamen and Sharon Soneff

In honor of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, Leeza’s Place of Manhattan presented a free, open to the public, creative seminar on Saturday, November 6th. “Artful Memories” showcased the talents of nationally-known scrapbooking artists Marah Johnson, Sandra Magsamen and Sharon Soneff as they lead attendees in the creation of three items using personal photographs – a mini album, memory heart ornament, and gift tag.

Hamilton Madison House, a NYC Department for the Aging Caregiver Resource Center, hosted this hands-on seminar promoting the creative preservation of memories. National paper manufacturer FiberMark, based in Vermont, co-sponsored the event and donated materials used for the projects. Arizona-based Xyron donated adhesive products for the 4-hour event as well.

Artful Memories facilitator Marah Johnson is a nationally known artist and scrapbooking educator, whose work may be seen in the leading scrapbook magazines. She is the creative designer and project educator for FiberMark, a member of the design team for Two Peas in a Bucket, a registered artist for Creative Imaginations, and the author of three idea books Metals and More, The Art of Collage, and Tags, Tags and More Tags.

Artist and author Sandra Magsamen is the creator of the well-known scrapbooking collection, Messages from the Heart™, featuring Sandra’s signature art and verses. Many New Yorkers became acquainted with Sandra during last year’s holiday season when the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue’s flagship store featured vibrant vignettes, with moving mannequins and set pieces, inspired by images from her book, The Gift. Sandra’s licensed art collections can be seen in the form of gifts, stationary, serveware, cards and home décor products.

Sharon Soneff, creator of the Sonnets scrapbooking collection shows her love for the artful and intellectual through her work where fluid beauty, inspiring text, historical and architectural imagery find a home together. With experimentation as her teacher, and imagination as her muse, Sharon pursues her passions of watercolor lettering arts in her home studio by the sea.

Many thanks to all who donated their time and talents at this great event!
