3rd Annual Journey In Motion
Saturday, September 22, 2012
This year the journey continues.
In 2010, our journey with Leeza's Place began with the climb up Mt. Washington, NH to raise awareness and funds for programs and services that support caregivers who face their own mountains daily. In 2011, the journey moved home to Illinois as we climbed the trails at Starved Rock State Park in Utica. This year, we will be walking the I&M Canal Trail, starting at Channahon State Park.
If you'd like to join the journey, please see that attached flyers for more information:
Journey In Motion Flyer & Quilt Info
Journey In Motion Registration Form
Rocks to Remember will be available again this year. For $1.00 donation to Leeza's Place, purchase a river rock and inscribe it with a special message in memory, or in honor, of someone. The rocks will be distributed along the trail symbolizing the foundation that our loved ones have built so we can continue the journey for them.

"We can do so much more in this world when we are supported by people who understand what we're trying to do and who positively support our efforts to walk our path."

* Last month, I shared my venture in the realm of 5K races.
This month, Kim will share a milestone she celebrated this summer... her son Matthew's wedding. *
Memories In Motion
June 16, 2012
This summer has been very exciting for the Jackson family. My son Matthew, who is in Medical School in Nevada, returned home with his fiancé to tie the knot. On June 16, 2012 a beautiful memory was created in Chicago at Millennium Park. This memory has been in motion for the past two years ever since Matthew purposed to Christelle Lott at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Matthew had planned this for a very long time. He shared with me his plans for the engagement two years ago. When Matthew was 16, he entered the working world. He recently shared with me his story - "Mom, I knew that I would someday find that perfect woman, so with my very first earned check, I opened a savings account. For nine years I put away money from each check to one day ask this very special lady to marry me." When Matthew told me this, I knew it would be unique. Much to my surprise, not only did he propose at midnight over looking France, but he also planned the 10 day vacation hour for hour. I was out of town the same day this memory took place and I explained to Matthew, since he was keeping the trip a surprise, that I would like a copy of his itinerary so I would know where my son would be. Well I received a book almost one inch thick and was advised I couldn't open it until Christelle knew where they were going. This trip was Christelle's college graduation present from Matthew. Little to her surprise she came home with a much larger gift. The gift of his love forever and for always. The wedding was definitely a memory in motion and I was a very proud mother. My poem sums it up (below). I too have memories in motion.
Matthew, My Son
It was special delivery,
December of 1985,
Not wrapped with a bow,
But what a surprise.
It was a miracle,
Only I could measure,
A gift from God,
I would always treasure.
They handed you to me,
I kept you warm,
Though three weeks early,
Yet healthy when born.
A perfect six pound,
Very tiny baby boy,
A new responsibility,
Bringing many years of joy.
Look at you now,
About six foot four,
A wonderful man,
With so much instore.
You've accomplished,
Many goals in your life,
I look at you now,
You have chosen a wife.
From baby to husband,
What else do I see?
Possibly Daddy, Maybe Uncle,
Grandpa hopefully. |
On this special day,
Words can't describe,
How happy I am,
For you and your bride.
Once again, I am blessed,
From God up above,
He has sent us, Christelle,
To cherish and to love.
I pass on my gift,
My first born, only Son,
To this beautiful woman,
When this day is done.
Christelle, my treasure,
Is now part of your life,
I know you will love him,
And be a great wife.
Matthew, always be true,
To her every day,
Cherish God's gifts,
In a delicate way.
Be healthy and wise,
All the days of your life,
During your journey,
As husband and wife.
I love you so much,
And I want you to know,
I'm here for you both,
Where ever you go.
