Mentoring

One of the hardest decisions you may make will be to walk through the doors of Leeza's Place. Once you or your loved one is diagnosed with a memory disorder, you may feel a loss of control, a loss of hope, and a feeling of unwanted aloneness. But, once you make the decision to visit Leeza's Place, we will provide you with the education, empowerment and energy to overcome those feelings. You will become part of a community whose participants are active in their own recovery. You will also be assigned a very powerful person in your life: a mentor in the journey. This is a person or family who has traveled the road that you and your family are now set to travel. Your mentor has had at least one year on this journey, knows the difficulties to avoid, and offers inspiration, hope and guidance.

The First Step in the Mentoring Process.

By attending a newcomer's meeting you will have the opportunity to share your story with others - or you can just listen. A mentor will be assigned by the Leeza Care Advocate. You mentor will introduce you to numerous programs and healing strategies that can help you regain control of your life. Friends and family are always welcome to attend and support you.

Strength in Numbers: The Family and Friends Mentoring Support Group

Veterans and newcomers provide a community of people with like-minded challenges, sharing and learning from one another. These ongoing groups are for families of those recently diagnosed. They allow participants the opportunity to learn by sharing, listening, and discussing family issues; offering ways to reduce stress; and sharing treatments, beliefs, fears and success.
